The facility details section contains the basic information about your facility, including address, contact information, and admin fee if you charge one. Some of this information will be populated from when you originally signed up. Please review that information before continuing to the next step.
First, navigate to the "Features" page of MySpareFoot.
Click “Edit Facility"
Here's a summary of each of the required details:
For branding consistency, we recommend using the same facility name that appears on your main sign. Since we know some facilities have the same name, we also recommend adding your facility street address to help customers differentiate your location. Ex: SpareFoot Self Storage - Austin - 123 Main St.
Facility Address, City, State & Zip
Enter your facility's physical street address. This address will be provided to new customers that reserve at your facility, so it's important that it's accurate.
Is there an on-site office at the above address?
Select yes if you have an office on-site where tenants can meet with a facility staff member to move-in or check-in about their account. Otherwise, select no.
Many facilities charge a one-time, non-refundable administrative fee at move-in. Enter the amount that you charge customers on their initial move-in, excluding rent fees, insurance/protection plan fees and deposits.
Do you have a website? If so, enter the web address here. Though we won't display a link to your own website on our network, our agents may reference it to research any details requested by customers considering your facility.
Can you receive mail at the above address?
Select Yes or No, depending on whether the street address of your facility is the address where you receive mail. If you select No, a new field will appear for you to input your mailing address. This information is for SpareFoot's internal use, and is not shared with customers on our site.
TIP: This field only determines whether you receive your facility's own mail at your physical location - not whether you're able to accept packages and mail on behalf of your tenants.
Enter a brief description of your facility, highlighting important details like location and special features or amenities.Customers will see this information at the top of your listing page, so it’s a great opportunity to make your facility stand out against the competition. It's best to write an original and unique description for your SpareFoot listing; duplicating content from your own website can be detrimental to your ranking on search engines like Google and Bing.
Enter your facility's direct phone number. This phone number will not be visible on your facility's SpareFoot.com listing; it will be provided to customers after they've made a reservation at your facility. That's why it's best to use your facility's direct number (the one provided to current tenants), instead of a number for an external sales or roll-over call center.
TIP: The number provided in this field is also the number we'll use for your automated Tenant Connect calls that we will explain below.
Tenant Connect is a free service from SpareFoot that sends you automatic notifications (via call and/or text message) to let you know that a customer has reserved one of your units on our site! As you know, it's hugely important to follow up by phone with customers as soon as they reserve a unit, and Tenant Connect helps notify you right away.
Tenant Connect Voice
Ten minutes after someone reserves one of your units on SpareFoot, the Tenant Connect system will call your facility. Based on the office hours you have listed for your facility in MySpareFoot, we won't trigger a Tenant Connect call when you're closed. Additionally, we won't make Tenant Connect calls to you during the first or last hour that you're open.
The caller ID will show SpareFoot's toll-free support number: 855-427-8193. Whoever answers the phone will hear the reservation details ("SpareFoot.com has sent you a reservation for the following tenant...") and will be prompted with the following options:
- If you'd like to be connected to this tenant right now, press 1
- If you'd like us to call you back in 10 minutes to connect with this tenant, press 2
- If you've already tried to contact this tenant, press 3
- If you'll call this tenant at a later time, press 4
- If you'd like to have the tenant's name and these options repeated, press 5
Whichever option is chosen will be logged on the Customers page in your MySparefoot account.
Tenant Connect Text
Any time someone reserves one of your units on SpareFoot, we can send you a text message with their name and phone number. If you would like to receive these text alerts, just add your cell phone number in the Cell Phone field. Don't worry, we will not share your cell phone numbers with customers.
Once you've finished filling out your facility details, click Save.
You will also see a button that asks if you want to make your listing available on the SpareFoot network. This selection makes your facility available or unavailable on SpareFoot. Note: Please do not click the button at this time. We’ll come back to that a bit later once your listing is complete.
