Step 5: Add photos

Your facility photos make a major first impression on potential tenants, and they're a great way to stand out from the competition! We’ve found that listings without any photos leave a lot of unanswered questions and customers are less likely to reserve as they are unsure of what to expect 

First, make sure that you are on the Features page in your MySpareFoot account:

Then, click the blue "Upload Photos" button.

We recommend 3 - 5 high-quality photos of your facility for optimal listing performance on our network. 

Your photos should ideally be between 1 - 3 MB in size. The maximum size is 5 MB per photo. To avoid appearing stretched or off center, your photos should be formatted within a 5x3 ratio and at least 535 pixels wide by 330 pixels tall. SpareFoot supports JPEG, PNG and GIF photo formats.

Our terms of service prohibits photos that display your facility's direct phone number or website.

Your photos will display in the order you upload them. To change the order of your photos, simply delete them and re-upload in the order you want them to appear.

Set your profile image

Profile images are the main "cover" photo customers will see when viewing your facility listing in SpareFoot's search results so you'll want to choose a photo that best represents your facility and makes the strongest first impression. Though you can select any photo you'd like, most facilities choose to use a high-quality landscape photo of their property's storefront. We also recommend sticking to photos of your actual property; logos, generic stock photos or photos of employees tend to be less appealing to customers, and may result in your listing getting passed over by a potential customer.

To set your profile photo, simply scroll to the image you'd like, hover over it, and then click "Make this the Profile image".

What are customer looking for in facility photos?

  • Cleanliness - Customers want to see clean units where their belongings will be stored. Cleanliness is one of the top priorities that customers mention when evaluating a storage facility.

  • Security and safety - Customers want to be able to evaluate the safety of the facility as well as the surrounding area. Showcase security features such as gates and cameras that will make customers feel comfortable reserving at your facility.

  • Recognition - Sometimes customers are hoping to reserve at a facility they have seen before. Include a street view photo that will make it easier for them to know if they found the correct facility and also help customers locate your facility on move-in day.

Google street view

Once your listing is live, you may notice a Google street view photo in addition to the photos that you uploaded in MySparefoot. We've leveraged Google's Street View technology to help ensure we've got you located in the right spot, however, occasionally this technology can misplace you on the map and display an incorrect street view of your facility.  

Since this photo will not be visible in your MySpareFoot account, if you need to request an adjustment to your street view, send a request to our Client Care team! We'll make a quick adjustment in our system to get the photo corrected and ensure customers know exactly where they're headed on move-in day.
